Ben & Ione Take Over Melbourne

New Pod + Photos

On today’s mini-pod we recap our adventures bringing the Weirder Together Variety Show to Melbourne for the first time! At the GORGEOUS Brunswick Ballroom, we gathered a brilliant group of local Melbourne performers to do their thing… Tune in to hear a full breakdown, and check out the photos below courtesy of B Howell! And keep an eye out for future Weirder Together events, you never quite know what you’re gonna get, but its guaranteed to never be boring!

Of course, we love to throw a party, and these events are always also an excuse to get a bunch of fun creative people together to hang. So here we all are pre-show pre-gaming.

Keep up with all adventures by entering your email in this little box!!!

We opened the show with our podcast theme songs “Together we’re weirder, we’re weirder together!”

Then took a deep dive into Ione’s history with corporate development and Asian liquor stores at Docklands…

Next up was “Slut-Pop” icon Vigilantonie, who took the audience on a “journey from cowgirl to call-girl” that included allowing the audience to refill their glasses from her goon bag bra…

Your new favorite band, Quivers, were up next, previewing two songs from their forthcoming Merge release and we watched them convert the whole room into instant fans with their harmonies…

Magician Sunny Leunig then wowed the crowd by reading our minds, finding our hidden cards and generally terrifying us with his powers.

Gab Strum came on stage with new artist Stella Bridie to perform some gorgeous new tunes they have been working on, including a cover of our friend Christian Lee Hutson’s “Lose This Number”

Comedy superstar Kirsty Webeck was up next and was hilarious and joyous. What a pro!

Ben came back up to perform some songs with Gab; “Is This How Love’s Supposed To Feel?” “Begin” and “Hard Drive”…

Before the whole crew came back up to close out the night with “Catch My Disease”!
