PICK OF THE WEEK: Rachel Rutt
Hand-dyed silk, suspended in space, portals into the past and future.
This week’s P.O.T.W. is Rachel Rutt, who recently opened her new solo show “Portals” at China Heights in Sydney.
Her current collection of work was created through weaving luminous silks on a loom, Rachel recently said “Weaving is such a universal cultural language and a time travelling bridge that takes us from the ancient into the present day. It has the capacity to tell the stories of our collective human history, as well as those closer to home”.
We were blown away by this collection of work, that feels somehow simultaneously both ancient and futuristic.
“Portals” is showing at China Heights until July 6. Don’t miss it
