PICK OF THE WEEK: Rainbow Sally
up and coming Aussie artist to watch!
In February this year, I was invited to participate in an APRA AMCOS event called The Regional Sessions, held in Bellingen NSW. The event was aimed at empowering young musicians and songwriters in regional areas to connect with each other and learn directly from “industry professionals” about how to break into the music biz.
My biggest surprise of the day was at the end of my session, an artist named Rainbow Sally came up and introduced themselves and played me a demo version of a song of theirs called “Double Dare”, that absolutely knocked my socks off.
It was a total sugar-rush of a song that blendsed bright indie-pop with raw emotional bite. We exchanged info and over the next month or two, I help Rainbow Sally finish and polish the tune, and today it is released to the world via WEIRDER TOGETHER.
I absolutely love this song, and was so pumped to hear it get a spin on JJJ’s Unearthed the other night. Feels like the start of an exciting creative journey.
Rainbow Sally is a great young Aussie artist to watch. And this is an amazing pop song.
