One of the best songs I’ve ever written comes out today - “Positive Energy'“. It’s a tune about the pressure I’ve put on myself, and in turn others have put on me, to be “Mr Positive”, and how hard that really is. Obviously, this is a corner I backed myself into, through my own relentless pursuit of optimism. At some point last year, with whatever was going on in the news of the world that day, I felt myself buckle under pressure. I muttered to myself “It’s getting kinda heavy” and from there the idea of the song was born. It’s a tune for the dreamers and the lovers who aren’t afraid to admit they lose hope regularly. It’s about the yearning to be positive, even on the days when we don’t quite get there.
Check out the incredible video above directed by my dear friend Byron Spencer. We wandered around Sydney one night a few weeks back with a go pro rigged to my chest and danced in and out of restaurants, go kart tracks, laser tag games, night clubs and movie theatres together. It’s a vibe.

The tune really means a lot to me. I hope you dig it! Please feel free to show your support and share the vid, the song or this newsletter with people who might enjoy it!
I’m going to post the original solo demo of the song below for paid subs as well as a bunch of behind the scenes stuff from the video…
